Broward County has two new judges and the ceremony to robe them has already been scheduled.

Ernest Kollra, who has a Fort Lauderdale landlord and tenant law practice, and veteran Assistant State Attorney Alberto Ribas Jr. were appointed by Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Broward Judicial Nominating Commission slatted interviews on March 23 on the next opening on the bench caused by the resignation of County  Judge Eric Beller.  Applications to the JNC are due Feb. 26.

The notice is here:  Notice of Judicial Vacancy-Instructions 2-03-2016

Kola and Ribas, plus two judges who are already on the bench and were earlier appointed by Scott — Judges Nina Di Pietro and Stephen Zaccor —  will be robed for the first time on February 19.

The robing event, in the main Broward Courthouse’s jury room in downtown Fort Lauderdale, is free.  Free parking is available in the garage just east of the Courthouse for the robing.
