Rich Republican’s B-Day Gift To His Wife: Popstar Katy Perry

Nothing speaks more about the difference between the GOP fat cats funding those super PACs and average folks than a birthday party in Palm Beach thrown this weekend by Bill Koch.
When you or I hold a birthday party for our spouses, the entertainment might be a stack of CDs or a DJ.
Koch – one of the super PAC Koch’s – hired superstar Katy Perry. She apparently flew in from California to his Palm Beach mansion with her band.
Jose Lambiet’s Gossipextra guestimates that Perry could have been paid $300,000 for the gig.
Koch, who Forbes magazine calls the poorest of the brothers, dropped $1 million on the Romney campaign so far this year. With a net worth of $4 billion, that’s pocket change for him.

I guess there is something wrong with people spending their own money as they see fit. Contrast that with the political fat cat family residing in the White House. How many $million$ of tax money has been spent by them on their continuous and frequent vacations? Most people struggle to afford even a single vacation a year while the Moochelle has already been on at least four this year alone.

A few observations directed to “Sam the Sham:”
1. Har har about the “Moochelle” comment. Didn’t know you had access to the internet while grade school is in session.
2. The President and his family pay for their own vacations from private funds. Maybe they haven’t taught you that in school yet. So, you should have no issue with how they spend their money, right? I guess you are upset that their security is payed by tax-payers. So, you think the President’s family should not go on vacation and/or they should pay for their security. Brilliant. You must be a straight A student.
3. I guess when you grow up, you see yourself as a bazillion-aire, and no one should comment on how you spend your money. That’s a fine libertarian sentiment. One thing I’ve never understood though is that comments such as yours always seem to assume that the money of the super rich is somehow actually earned by them or creates something positive for society. Why such sympathy? Many, if not most, ultra-weathy aren’t Steve Jobs or Henry Ford types. They either fell into the money due to birth, or they simply manipulate the big casino on Wall Street.

On the Dem side it would be the other way around…the star would be paying the celebrant for the pleasure of rubbing elbows. At least Koch was using his money as opposed to OURS.
